Approach / Inspiration

I approach most pieces with the goal of taking common everyday items and making them bold enough to catch your eye across a room, while still maintaining realistic features and staying somewhat true to form. I’m inspired by all types of organic things. Nature provides a vast array of textures that I like to try to capture within pieces. It’s the lumps, bumps, and shiny spots of nature that catch my eye, and they can be found everywhere. Watercolors have become my favourite medium. Their ease of transport and the way they remind me of old storybooks grabbed my interest and they are what I have been focusing on for the past couple years.

Biography

I learned to draw coming up as a tattoo artist, eventually taking up oil painting, and then watercolors recently. Over the years I’ve drawn inspiration from many different artists and eventually came to find my own style. I’m still finding new things I like and every so often something catches my attention enough to work a piece of itself into my style. It’s steadily evolving, but I like that, it keeps the process fresh and fun.
