The Art
Techniques
Approach / Inspiration
My interest in the art of painting goes back to my childhood where I had a keen interest in experimenting with my own creations whereby I realized that the art of painting was something that really excited me. This was encouraged and supported by my mother and thus spurred me to seek out a lifetime of involvement in learning new techniques and approaches. Thus far in my career my work has evolved through my innate connection to Newfoundland out-port heritage. Now my participation in BASNL further ignites the opportunity to explore a new vision by concentrating on the intricacies of Newfoundland flora.
Biography
I was born in the Newfoundland out port fishing community of scenic Petite Forte. I am a graduate of St. Bride’s College, Littledale, coupled with degrees BA, Ba ed, from Memorial University and a Masters of Art Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. I am now retired from teaching in the Newfoundland School System as well as 12 years with Memorial University in the Faculty of Education as an instructor in Art Education.
I continue to conduct art workshops on an annual basis at various venues around the province.
Exhibitions / Awards
I have participated in numerous exhibitions mainly through venues on the Avalon Peninsula, but also at Gander, Grand Falls, Corner Brook, and Trinity as well as Marystown, Burin, and Grand Bank on the Burin Peninsula.
